After reading this article today, I was stunned. I knew that hfcs was bad for you, but didnt know exactly how bad. Everyone has seen the commercials recently from the “corn growers”, about how natural it is and its just fine to eat in moderation. They forgot to add the important stuff. Here is the article. Maybe we will think a little more before serving our children a bowl of cereal or juice box for their school lunch.

Sick & Tired…

I found this book from the crazysexycancer video on tlc.  It is about the effects of ph in our blood, and disease.  Very interesting.  I got the book today from amazon.com.  I will let you all know what I think when Im finished.  Watch the video too!   I am totally interested in books that may help give insight on maximizing our health.  You don’t have to be sick to adopt some of the principles in the book.

Butternut squash bites

My dd and I made vegetarian Butternut squash appetizers this evening.  They were delightful, however, I forgot to take a picture of the finished product.  Alex took this picture of them before we put them in the oven, which she is proud of.  Even shot  in manual mode.  She is becoming quite the expert.  I promise to show the finished product next time.

Butternut squash bites

1 butternut squash, washed and cut in 1/2 lengthwise…  sprinkle with cinnamon and a pinch of salt.  Put in the oven at 350′ for 1hr (in a pan with 1″ of water).

After the squash is finished, put it in the blender with about 1/2-1 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese + another sprinkle of cinnamon.  Blend well.  (If the blender doesnt work, just mush until creamy.  Fill wonton wrappers with about 1″scoop and seal with water + fork.  Put in 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes or so.  Watch it, it burns easily.  They are scrumptious!

Raw Apple Pie.. yum, yum!

My daughter and I tried out our first raw pie today.  We used the recipe found in Ani Phyo’s cookbook.  I was a little hesitant about making this.  Wasnt sure if it was going to taste good “raw”, but I was pleasantly surprised.  It was delicious.  We took a few pictures to share.  If you would like the recipe, just email me.

Veggie wraps…

Today I experimented on veggie wraps. This one is not completely raw. I cheated with a little strip of swiss cheese. Thats the first piece of cheese I had in quite a while. I didnt like the taste with the cheese. I used a flax seed wrap. Other than the cheese, it was delicious. (Julienne carrots, cucumber, red onions, tomatoes, green peppers, field greens, and organic salad dressing)
