Green Goddess Juice…

Im experimenting with my juicing today.  I made a delicious green juice, inspired by Kris Carr of Crazy Sexy Cancer (ps. you dont have to have cancer to watch this movie). It’s a wake up call oh how we are treating our bodies with the SAD (standard American diet), and the consequences that  lie ahead.  She demonstrates how to juice on her movie (an extra dvd option), and showed everyone how she makes her morning sunshine.  Here are the ingredients…

Broccoli stems, kale, lemon, cucumber, celery, romaine.

I made my husband some this morning… when he got to work, he called me to tell me that he felt like he drank 5 cups of coffee.  Its amazing how much energy just one glass of pure juice can give you.  I think I have him hooked.  No more starbucks, hello green juice.

I went to the healthfood store today to pick up some supplements.  While browsing through the produce section, I noticed they offered wheatgrass flats.  I thought, “well I guess its worth a try”, so I bought some.  It isnt finished growing, so when it is, I will  let you know how I like it.  Im kinna scared of the taste from everything I have heard.  As long as I can keep it down, things will be great!  Here is a website that shows a very simple way how to grow it, and the amazing benefits of it.

Hippocrates Health Institute shares how important it is in our diet.  The list goes on and on… Its a very powerful regimen. Here is there link.

Here is some of what Ann Wigmore says about wheatgrass…

Increases red blood-cell count and lowers blood pressure. It cleanses the blood, organs and gastrointestinal tract of debris. Wheatgrass also stimulates metabolism and the body’s enzyme systems by enriching the blood. It also aids in reducing blood pressure by dilating the blood pathways throughout the body.

Stimulates the thyroid gland, correcting obesity, indigestion, and a host of other complaints.

Restores alkalinity to the blood. The juice’s abundance of alkaline minerals helps reduce over-acidity in the blood. It can be used to relieve many internal pains, and has been used successfully to treat peptic ulcers, ulcerative colitis, constipation, diarrhea, and other complaints of the gastrointestinal tract.

Is a powerful detoxifier, and liver and blood protector. The enzymes and amino acids found in wheatgrass can protect us from carcinogens like no other food or medicine. It strengthens our cells, detoxifies the liver and bloodstream, and chemically neutralizes environmental pollutants.

Fights tumors and neutralizes toxins. Recent studies show that wheatgrass juice has a powerful ability to fight tumors without the usual toxicity of drugs that also inhibit cell-destroying agents. The many active compounds found in grass juice cleanse the blood and neutralize and digest toxins in our cells.” Ann Wigmore, The Wheatgrass Book.

“Wheat grass juice is said to be one of the most nutritious substances on this planet. It’s my favorite green super food – packed full of easily digestible vitamins and minerals. Rich inchlorophyll it is used to remove dangerous toxins from the body.”  (www.rawfoods-livingfoods.com)

The five things I am grateful for today,

1. My new juicer, so I can finally get some intoxicating nutrition going through my blood.
2. Strawberry shortcake, so my dd has something else to focus on while I take a break. 😉
3. FitTV, so I can do my namasta yoga… down dog!
4. My apple computer.  It is my lifeline to the outside world.
5. The library,  I would be broke if I had to buy all of the books I read.

(Not listed since I wont put him in a category or list, God for being there for me when I need him.)

Today the ups guy brought my juicer.  I purchased the Green Star 2000 from online.  I got a great sale on it.  (I think if you request the wholesale price, they will give it to you.  I got 20% off).  I have been so excited to start juicing, even got a ton of books from the library about it.  After I figure out how to use it, I will be posting some recipes for my bloggers to use.  Happy juicing!

2. Creativity is a lifestyle, not simply a single activity.  Let it expand you.

6. Define yourself by who you are, not the roles you play.

7. Find rejuvenation in five minutes of silence.

8. Contribute to abundance:If you no longer need something, pass it on.

9. Find your direction in life by looking where you want to go, not where you don’t.

10.  You don’t have to have a perfect body to feel great in it.

I found this article on the web today about the dangers of food additives.  I think it is a must read (if you care about what you put into your body).  Most of us think that if we dont know about it, its not happening to us.  We are ignorant and need to take control of our health.  We need to change what commercial producers of our lifeline (food), put into our bodies.  We are the difference, we want to see.  It has to start with US.  If we continue to buy this junk, things will never change.  We, as consumers, are voting on what is on the grocery store shelf.  It wont be sold if we dont buy it.  Im rambling now, but I hope you get my point.  Get educated people!  I have faith that we will see a change soon.

Green drinks…

I finally picked up a green drink superfood powder blend yesterday, while I was at Raisin Rack.  IT is called vitamineral green.  You can find it at just about any health food store or online.  This is from the website.. “It was designed to be the most nutrient dense and comprehensive superfood product ever offered. Vitamineral Green contains a full spectrum of naturally occurring, absorbable and non-toxic vitamins, minerals (including calcium) and trace minerals (including naturally colloidal and better). Vitamineral Green contains no synthetic or isolated nutrients (not excreted as expensive yellow urine or stored as toxic deposits). “Manufactured” by Mother Nature herself; not a chemist. Also naturally occurring are all the essential amino acids (protein), antioxidants, fatty acids, chlorophyll, soluble and insoluble fibers, tens of thousands of phytonutrients, and a plethora of other synergistically bound, organic nutrients. 100% whole food nutrition.”

I am using it as a supplement when I cant get my green smoothies or juicing in.  My husband is also drinking it.  Amazing! Abigail was carrying it around today, so I had to get a picture.
