Green drinks…

I finally picked up a green drink superfood powder blend yesterday, while I was at Raisin Rack.  IT is called vitamineral green.  You can find it at just about any health food store or online.  This is from the website.. “It was designed to be the most nutrient dense and comprehensive superfood product ever offered. Vitamineral Green contains a full spectrum of naturally occurring, absorbable and non-toxic vitamins, minerals (including calcium) and trace minerals (including naturally colloidal and better). Vitamineral Green contains no synthetic or isolated nutrients (not excreted as expensive yellow urine or stored as toxic deposits). “Manufactured” by Mother Nature herself; not a chemist. Also naturally occurring are all the essential amino acids (protein), antioxidants, fatty acids, chlorophyll, soluble and insoluble fibers, tens of thousands of phytonutrients, and a plethora of other synergistically bound, organic nutrients. 100% whole food nutrition.”

I am using it as a supplement when I cant get my green smoothies or juicing in.  My husband is also drinking it.  Amazing! Abigail was carrying it around today, so I had to get a picture.

Hot Pink Smoothie

I purchased a set of recipes from Green Smoothie Girl yesterday. If you have not been to her blog/website, you must visit her. She also has demos on her recipes on youtube. This smoothie is called hot pink smoothie. I was kind of scared to try it, but it really is delicious. Im still on my raw food challenge, and doing pretty good.  I have found that I cannot possibly go 100% raw to start.  So, I have been eating a very healthy cooked dinner with salad.  For breakfast, I usually make a smoothie, and it holds me off until lunch.  At lunch I usually eat a large salad or veggie plate.  I snack on fruit when I am feeling hungry.  I drink lots and lots of water during the day.  I dont miss meat at all.  Actually, it grosses me out now.  I still cook it for the kids, but they are beginning to tell me that they prefer the vegetarian dishes I cook.  I made lentil meat balls for dinner on friday.  They looked just like the real thing, and tasted good too.  I have kicked up my yoga to 5 days a week.  It is a great de-stressor.  I am also taking a couple of supplements, including; calcium/magnesium, B-12, and a multi vitamin.  I need to get to whole foods to get a vitamin D supplement.  I am not out in the sun enough to get my daily dose until spring.  I am also going to be ordering a “greens” supplement from green smoothie girl this week.  It has a whole mix of super nutrients to supplement when I cant make a green smoothie or eat my greens.

It really is hot pink.  Makes me think of pepto bismol.  Yum!  This healthy and delicious smoothie contains beets, coconut water, cashews, carrots, dates, vanilla, and strawberries.

After reading this article today, I was stunned. I knew that hfcs was bad for you, but didnt know exactly how bad. Everyone has seen the commercials recently from the “corn growers”, about how natural it is and its just fine to eat in moderation. They forgot to add the important stuff. Here is the article. Maybe we will think a little more before serving our children a bowl of cereal or juice box for their school lunch.

It is inspiring to see others who care about their health and their bodies. Watching these videos helps me to remember & realize why I am going “raw”.

Sick & Tired…

I found this book from the crazysexycancer video on tlc.  It is about the effects of ph in our blood, and disease.  Very interesting.  I got the book today from amazon.com.  I will let you all know what I think when Im finished.  Watch the video too!   I am totally interested in books that may help give insight on maximizing our health.  You don’t have to be sick to adopt some of the principles in the book.
